Monique Baez worked as a student intern for the Port of Los Angeles with the Engineering Division’s  Financial Controls Section. She continued her employment with them throughout her four years of college. Upon graduation, she worked in the private sector fora startup sign company where she held many responsibilities for almost two years, including all HR and bookkeeping work, serving as the company’s project manager, and more. She accepted a full-time position with the Port of Los Angeles as a Management Assistant for the same Financial Controls Section she had worked for as an intern. Monique was promoted quickly to Management Analyst II and continued her employment at the port for more than seven years. After taking an extended leave to be a stay-at-home mother for her young children, she returned to the workforce, joining DRC as an engineering consultant for the port specializing in permitting under the DRC’s on-call engineering services contract.
