D R Consultants and Designers, Inc., (DRC), has designed and managed construction of rehabilitated roadway’s, heavy/light rail and transit line segments, including street beautification, street re-alignment’s, bridges, viaducts, aerial guideways, embankments and grade level rights-of-way, for roadway/transit improvement projects. Projects have been completed for Port of Los Angeles, and City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering (BOE). Successful candidate shall specialize in the management and coordination of design and construction engineering of all forms of transportation infrastructure. DRC Website: www.drcdinc.com.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Master’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering a plus
10 to 15 years of design experience on infrastructure projects
Strong project management experience of Design and some Construction background
CA Professional Engineer (PE) certification a plus.
Quality Assurance Manager experience a plus
Job Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, coordinate, and manage delivery of projects utilizing the Engineering Division’s project management processes and tools with a focus on design-bid-build or design-build issue resolution, contract issue resolution, claim resolution, right of way, and third parties issue resolution. Effectively coordinate with other Engineering Division functional staff to timely resolve issues.
Understand all the interrelated aspects of program delivery in a design-bid-build, and design-build environment with multiple interrelated projects and functional areas. Prepare technical correspondence and complete, comprehensive reports; address an audience effectively; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; and communicate effectively to demonstrate leadership, team-building, and collaboration skills, for meeting established project goals and objectives
Analyze situations and data accurately; lead the development of effective solutions and strategies for difficult planning, environmental, engineering, technical and logistical problems related to delivery of transportation related project’s such as, but not limited to, roadway, light and heavy rail; and collaboratively engage the services of other parties necessary to achieve results.
Development, continual improvement and implementation of: Engineering Division strategies, policies and procedures, systems and tools, to support project delivery.
Support Project Director in special tasks and studies.
Proficiency and knowledge of computer software applications such as Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Serve as design resource and participate in construction section reviews and project management.
Knowledge of and ability to apply engineering judgment in areas of design and construction engineering on transportation projects.
The ability to maintain good communication skills and working relationships with management, consultants, private sector contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, and their associations, utility companies, local agencies and other third parties.
Strong coordination skills, given the strong matrix organization assembled for the program delivery team.
Excellent communication and negotiating skills (both written and oral), and the ability to speak knowledgeably with other consultants, stakeholders, other governmental agencies and individual citizens.
Knowledge of: Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build delivery of major transportation project’s;
principles and practices of project management; and construction management practices
